The town of Ottery St Mary is just a mile away and boasts a variety of independent shops and cafes.

The poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge resided here, and his presence can be witnessed around the town, including a recently erected statue in his honour which can be found in the church yard.
The imposing church of St Mary’s is worth a visit, as it was modelled closely on Exeter Cathedral. It has a 500 year old weathercock which is possibly the oldest in Europe.
On November the 5th, an extraordinary event can be witnessed. An enormous bonfire is lit, and local men, women and children run through the streets carrying flaming tar barrels on their backs. This spectacle is a must for everyone’s bucket list!
The pretty, unspoilt seaside town ofSidmouth is just 5 miles away. There is a plethora of artisan shops, cafes and bars, along with a beautiful sand and pebble beach. There are several other quaint, fishing villages and seaside towns with golden beaches that are worthy of a visit within a 15 mile radius.
